Beginning Japanese Language Classes
The World Languages Institute at Bellevue College offers one of the largest selections of beginning Japanese classes in the Seattle-Bellevue area. Whether you want to speak Japanese for business reasons or are taking Japanese classes for pleasure, our beginning lessons are a great way to learn Japanese today.
Get started learning Japanese
Our beginning Japanese classes are engaging and professional, and emphasize speaking Japanese in culturally appropriate contexts. We offer evening and weekend Japanese classes that generally meet once a week for 8 to 10 weeks. All instructors are native Japanese speakers. Lessons cover basic Japanese vocabulary and common phrases, as well as an introduction to the Japanese writing systems– Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji.
The World Languages Institute beginning Japanese classes introduce you to basic language that will allow you to speak Japanese in everyday situations. Lessons include how to:
- Engage in simple conversations
- Interact in social, business, and travel situations
- Ask and respond to simple questions
- Write simple sentences on everyday topics
- Read a variety of basic written materials
