Web Development/Web Design Faculty


Sherri Carson
Sherri has over 25 years experience teaching computer applications, including more than ten years in Web design instruction, focusing on both hand coding and software applications. Her teaching experience ranges from small businesses to large corporations and academia. Sherri holds a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Psychology from the University of the Pacific, a master's degree in Social Psychology from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. in Management Information Systems from City University. She has served on various community college committees for the development of computer training programs, has presented at ITEC and other regional training conferences, and has developed training books and manuals. Sherri and a colleague own a Web design business which develops websites for small businesses, non-profits and professionals.

Tony Grills
Tony has been teaching technical courses at Bellevue College since 1997, and has been programming professionally since 1990. He has worked as a software professional for companies that include Siemens, Attachmate, Openwave, Expeditor's International and Motorola. Tony is a Java Certified Programmer, and is primarily focused on Java, JavaScript and other Web-based technologies. He has extensive teaching experience in both electronics engineering and computer programming curriculum at institutions in Washington and California, including ITT Technical Institute, City University, Henry Cogswell College, Heald Institute of Technology and Puget Sound Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology. Tony has also conducted on-site training at numerous organizations, including Adobe, Attachmate, City of Seattle, Paccar and Getty Images.

Lisa Harris
Lisa has been teaching computer courses, including Web design, since 1998. When not in the classroom, Lisa designs sites and databases, and manages projects for various organizations. Her recent work includes serving as the website designer, manager and database administrator for Green River Community College's Kent Campus, and as the eProject web and database administrator at Western Wireless/Alltel. Lisa holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Chicago.

Peggy Merrill
Peggy has been teaching at Bellevue College since 1998. Prior to coming to the college, Peggy operated a desktop publishing business for 12 years, where she honed her skills utilizing graphic and page layout software. Peggy also teaches Adobe classes at the University of Washington and is a partner in Pegasus Web Training. She has a B.A. and an M.A. in education, and is also a trained journalist.

Suri Narayanan
Suri is a senior lead software engineer at Microsoft. He has worked in the software industry for over 20 years in various capacities. With a broad and deep experience in software, Suri specializes in large scale distributed computing solutions. During his career at Microsoft, he has developed applications and components using .NET, Web Services, XML, BizTalk server, SQL Server and SharePoint. Suri has also worked for several Silicon Valley startups developing Internet applications using Java. His favorite programming language is C#. Suri has a bachelor's degree in applied sciences and a master's degree in applied physics and electronics.

Kal Viswanathan
Kal is a senior applications developer with Microsoft, where she has been employed since 1998. In the course of her career, she has held positions that include software developer, software engineer and applications engineer. Kal received her bachelor's degree in engineering in India and her master's degree in computer science from Michigan. Her specialty is teaching Microsoft developer tools.
