Software Testing & Quality Assurance Faculty

Anu Arora
Anu is a principal software development engineer in test on Microsoft Corporation's Engineering Excellence team in Redmond, Washington. In her role to help improve Microsoft Test, she teaches testers how to improve their skills, and designs, updates and teaches various technical and management courses for Microsoft's testers, leads and managers. Anu has worked in the software testing industry since 1998 as both a tester and manager, and speaks at industry conferences about excellence in testing. She has a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering, and prior to moving to the U.S. she worked on building helicopters in India.

Dan Hodge
Dan graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in software engineering technology. He began his technical career as a software quality assurance engineer at Asymetrix Corporation. He later was promoted to a Windows development position, and utilized C/C++ to help develop Asymetrix's flagship product, ToolBook, along with several other multimedia applications. Dan joined ST Labs in 1995 as a technical trainer, where he taught test automation and programming, and eventually became manager of their training department. In 1997, Dan started his own training company specializing in software testing instruction and consulting, and taught onsite classes worldwide for companies such as HP, Intel, AT&T and Microsoft. His current interest in the industry includes .NET programming and website development.

Jim Nindel-Edwards
Jim has been working in the high-tech information sector since 1974 for companies that include Weyerhaeuser, Boeing and Costco. He is currently working at Microsoft where he is a senior quality assurance engineer in the legal and corporate affairs IT department. Jim has a master's degree in information system management from Seattle Pacific University.

Randal Root
Randal is a senior consultant specializing in .NET Programming, SQL Server Business Intelligence reporting, and technical education. He has worked in the industry as a network administrator and programmer since the 1980s and holds several Microsoft professional certifications including MCSE, MCP+I, MCTS, MCDBA, MCAD, MCITP, and MCT. Over the last several years, Randal has also provided training for organizations that include Microsoft and the University of Washington. His primary subject areas include Windows, Web, and database programming, as well as software testing and network administration. Randal recently co-authored the book "A Tester's Guide to .NET Programming" and is currently working on another book.

Tom Wilk
Tom is currently the software test manager for VMC Consulting. In this role, Tom serves as a test consultant, test project manager and practice-area business leader. Tom brings over decades of experience in software engineering and quality assurance, including nine years with Microsoft as a test engineer (both STE and SDET), test lead and manager. Tom’s software engineering experience includes roles as software developer, project manager, team leader, systems analyst and technical support engineer. He is an alumnus of the University of Montana, a former Certified Management Accountant, a lifetime member of the Association for Software Testing and a Certified ScrumMaster.
